As an author, educator, and creator of rune-inspired jewellery, one of the questions I am most often asked is:

The answer is surprisingly simple. The challenges faced by our ancestors may have looked different, but many of the themes remain the same. We still seek wisdom, resilience, courage, community, purpose, and personal growth. The symbols of the Elder Futhark continue to represent concepts that are deeply human and remarkably timeless.

For example, drawing a rune each morning can provide a simple focus point for the day ahead.
If the rune drawn is Gebo, associated with exchange and generosity, you might ask:
- How can I give generously today?
- Am I receiving support when it is offered?
- What relationships deserve more attention?
If the rune drawn is Sowilo, associated with clarity and success, you might reflect on:
- What is currently becoming clearer in my life?
- What goals am I moving toward?
- What positive progress have I overlooked?
In this way, runes become tools for mindful reflection rather than predictions about the future.

One reason runes continue to resonate is that their symbolic themes remain remarkably relevant.

In ancient times, wealth was often measured in livestock. Today, wealth may look very different, but the underlying lesson remains.

Jera and Patience
Modern society celebrates instant results.
Jera represents harvest and reminds us that worthwhile achievements often require sustained effort over time.

Challenges are unavoidable.
Eihwaz symbolises endurance and reminds us that difficult periods can strengthen our character and perspective.
