Celtic Stag Steampunk Costume Challenge – Terms & Conditions

1. Organiser

This competition is organised by Celtic Stag in collaboration with event partners and supporting sponsors.

2. Eligibility

• The competition is open to all registered entrants.
• Two categories are available:
  • Most Creative Adult Costume
  • Best Kids’ Costume (Ages 0–13)
• Children must have consent from a parent or legal guardian to enter.
• The organiser reserves the right to verify age eligibility.

3. Entry Requirements

• Entry must be completed via official registration prior to or at the event (subject to closing times).
• Costumes must be safe for public display and worn in a manner suitable for a family-friendly event.
• Entries must not include offensive, unsafe, or inappropriate content.

4. Judging

• Judging will be conducted by a selected panel appointed by the organiser.
• Judging decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Entries will be assessed based on published criteria including:
  • Originality / Creativity
  • Craftsmanship
  • Use of Materials
  • Artistic Expression
  • Presentation
  • Bonus elements (where applicable such as innovation, movement, or interactivity)

5. Prizes

• First Prize (Adult Category): $200 gift certificate
• Second Prize (Adult Category): $100 gift certificate

Gift certificates may be used toward purchases from Celtic Stag, including custom-made pieces.
Please note: metals and gemstones are exempt from redemption under the gift certificate unless otherwise specified by the organiser.

All prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or alternative goods or services.

6. Prize Payment / Redemption

• Prizes will be issued in the form of a Celtic Stag gift certificate (not cash).
• Gift certificates will be provided to winners following the announcement of results at the event.
• Certificates may be used toward eligible purchases in accordance with the conditions stated above.
• The organiser reserves the right to verify winner details prior to issuing prizes.
• Lost or stolen certificates will not be reissued unless at the discretion of the organiser.

7. Photography & Media Consent

• By entering, participants consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded during the event.
• Celtic Stag and event partners may use this content for promotional, marketing, and social media purposes without compensation.
• For minors, consent is provided by a parent or guardian upon entry.

8. Safety & Conduct

• Entrants must ensure costumes are safe for themselves and others.
• No sharp, dangerous, or hazardous items are permitted.
• The organiser reserves the right to remove or disqualify any entry deemed unsafe or inappropriate.
• All participants are expected to behave respectfully toward judges, staff, and other entrants.

9. Liability

• Participation is at the entrant’s own risk.
• The organiser accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or injury incurred during participation in the event.
• Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.

10. Disqualification

The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:

• Breaches these terms and conditions
• Provides false information
• Engages in unsafe or disruptive behaviour
• Fails to comply with event instructions

11. Changes to Competition

The organiser reserves the right to:

• Modify or update rules if required
• Adjust categories, judging criteria, or prizes if necessary
• Cancel or postpone the competition in unforeseen circumstances

12. Acceptance of Terms

By entering the competition, all participants (or their guardians) are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
